My fondness for makeup began with lipstick. My mother sold Avon and as a child I was fascinated with those tiny samples she had stored in the closet. As a tween I'd get my hands on some lip color somehow but because I wasn't permitted to wear makeup yet I'd wipe my lips on the inside of my shirt before I headed back home.
My biggest beauty inspiration is the Hollywood starlets of the 40s and 50s. I've done makeup for numerous celebs and editorials but it is the common woman that I find the most fascinating and challenging. My time spent working in a department store made me a better artist and a savvier business woman. I not only learned about sales, goals, and value but I've done makeup on every skin texture and tone, every age and gender. I've addressed almost every problem that could be thrown at me with a smile, curiosity and determination to make something work so that the client would leave my chair happy.
