Quick Tip to stop the smear...

Published: Jan 7, 2012 by admin Filed under: TIPS
One of the most asked questions I get is "how do I get my mascara to stop running".
  • First find the mascara that best suits you. For a more dramatic look you might want to try Aramani's Eyes to Kill, for a more natural but long look try Laura Mercier's Long Lash mascara. The tiny wand on this separates lashes and is great to use on bottom lashes with out a mess.  I like many makeup artists out their am not a fan of waterproof mascara because it tens to dry too fast and get clumpy.
  • If you aren't curling your lashes they may be dangerously close to you lower eye area which can rub and cause the mascara to run as the day goes on. curl your eyelashes to pull them out of your vision and away from your under eye area. This will not only prevent that rubbing but pulling the lashes out of your  vision line will make you look more awake.
  • Next perfect the wiggle technique. When pulling out your wand wipe off excess mascara at the top of the container. Place the wand at the base of your lashes. Give it a horizontal back and forth wiggle then pull up. This will evenly distribute the mascara on the lash. When there is an excess of mascara at the tips of the lashes it weighs down the lash and may also cause the mascara to rub off on the face and/ or upper eye lid.  Repeat the technique on the bottom lash.

  • Last but not least try setting your under eye concealer with a powder like Ben Nye Natural Set or Laura Mercier's secret brightening powder. A running mascara could also be from dry mascara touching a creamy concealer.

Enjoy and keep that mascara where it belongs; on your eye lashes not your cheeks ladies!
